Hello,

I am a very recent Jane Austen fan.My wife had several of the various movie versions of the stories and I started watching them with her. I am a woodworker and furniture maker from SE Michigan. I have documented my recent affinity for Jane Austen stories in a newsletter I send out to friends and family. I have borrowed a couple of pictures obtained from this site. I hope I have not violated any protocols in doing so. Below is the news letter.

Welcome, Alan!  I'm not the one to answer your question about protocol, but I just took a look at your newsletter and feel a heart attack coming on:

"Colin Firth is fine in the 1995 BBC production of "Pride and Prejudice" but I know by careful research that in the Austen novel, Mr. Darcy was bald."

I'm almost afraid to ask how you came to that conclusion, but please explain.   Huh

It is a tongue in cheek statement- All my friends and family are quite aware that I am bald.

Whew! Thanks for clearing that up.  I was about to risk losing my job by spending the day reading on-line copy of P&P to see where you got such a notion.  I think now I shall have to call you "Wickham" for slandering my Mr. Darcy in such an abominable way.

Interesting to read the saga of your Austen transformation.  Stick around if you care to discuss anything.  I also highly recommend this site's sister www.austenblog.com where the conversation is more lively -- current hot topic is review of Sunday night's PBS Masterpiece presentation of "Emma". 

I like your crosses.  Your furniture designs are very interesting.  How about showing photos of actual completed pieces?

It's okay with me. Smiley I'm more concerned with people selling the actual images, or things made with the images.

hmmm better Wickham I think than Mr. Collins ....Well not much of a choice there!
