I promised Mary a while ago that if I ever started my novel, I'd let her know.

Well, I have. 15,000 words and counting. It's fun. And if anyone annoys me, I can just put them in the book.

How did I break the writer's block? I had a character in my head who wouldn't go away. And an opening sentence. The rest just grew.

Of course, its bad. But I'm 23 and practising. I'm not expecting the Great Kiwi Novel quite yet.

Ha!  Good work, John.  I never really did start mine, just a few pages here and there.  I haven't touched it since I talked you about figuring things out.  You'll have to let us read it when you're done.

Yep, that's how it starts.

Everybody has a bad novel in them that they have to get out. Best to do it when you're young.

Some have more than one, but that's another story.

I tend to write bad fanfictions. *sniff* i have though, done some origional work. (with a friend) I do joint writings, and when I write it's still by assignments. Perhaps when i'm 23 I'll start a novel of my own. ^_^

...yes, i'm dragging up old topics, but I get carried away when I join new forums. I bring the dead back to life for a bit. heh heh...

I have about thirty thousand words. My characters are OK, but plot and dialogue need work. I am tempted to throw in a dead body or two to liven things up.  Grin
