I have been a fan of the band Snow Patrol for a few years now and I've noticed recently that the rest of the world seems to be waking up to the fact they actually exist.  "Grey's Anatomy" has used several songs in various episodes and even has a video for Chasing Cars, one of their more recent releases.  Run (from the album Final Straw) has been used in the theatrical trailer for THE GUARDIAN and tonight's series premiere of "Jericho" not to mention episodes of "Bones," "One Tree Hill" and I'm sure many others I've never watched.  And finally, Zach Braff is using them in the soundtrack for THE LAST KISS (and we all know what he did for The Shins in GARDEN STATE).

I'm excited they're finally getting more exposure and I hope they do pick up in popularity, if only so they'll keep producing more albums.  I just hope I don't get burned out on them now that it seems it will be difficult to escape them.  Run is one of my favorite songs yet it's apparently the most popular to use.  (I guess because it has such a great hook).  That's the only thing I hate about the entertainment industry discovering new talent...they tend to drive a good thing into the ground.  Oh well, just so long as they don't start overplaying "An Olive Grove Facing the Sea" I should be okay ;-)

Great band.  Way to go boys!

GREY'S ANATOMY seems to be pretty cutting edge on the music front.  They had Brandi Carlyle on the soundtrack before I knew who she was and my sister's friends' band the Ditty Bops.  Ben Lee too.  That's two acts I saw on KPRI Hornblower cruises [Carlyle and Lee].  Make that three, they have Gomez on the GREY'S ANATOMY 2 soundtrack.

Yeah, it can be annoying when you really like a band for years and then they suddenly become the darlings of the moment and get over-exposed.  Then they stop playing intimate clubs and start playing arenas and it's not as much fun to see them.  At least there's always another great unknown band just waiting to be discovered.

The Ditty Bops....are they the ones who sing "Walk or Ride"?  If so, I love them!  The first time I heard them I thought Nina Gordon and Leigh Nash had teamed up for a twisted folk show.  Fun stuff  Grin

Heh, well, I'm the kind of person who doesn't find great groups until people tell me about them. I just "woke up" to snowpatrol last month when a friend let me borrow her CD. Which I will be getting soon, now that I have money from Christmas gifts. ^_^

I LOVE Snow Patrol!!  I saw them in Philadelphia this past fall.  Very good.  They only played songs from Eyes Open and Final Straw, so it was a short show.
